Christmas Wreath Fundraiser Update

With all the wreaths delivered and monies collected, the final tally to date shows our Wreath Fundraiser as this year’s BIG hit!! We raised over $1385.00. We are so grateful to Lorna Ryan for all her expertise and for organizing and managing this event. Thanks to everyone who ordered and helped in the making.We look forward to an even better production next year. Stay tuned!

Chop Point in the Community

Chop Point Running Club is participating in the Turkey Trot, which is a 5K race that raises awareness and food products for the Bath Area Food Bank. We decided to contact Kim and Jon, who are the coordinators, to see if we could collect food early so that it could be distributed with their Thanksgiving Day baskets. They were thrilled with our idea. These are the missing items that they need to make each basket complete. The need this year is great, and they are assembling over 200 baskets.

We are also making homemade apple pies and freezing them to distribute with the baskets. Our goal is to make 25 pies. Jess and I were in Chop Point’s best apple producing tree over the weekend. We will be having the students peel and cut apples on a volunteer basis during the week. If you would like to donate some supplies or your time, we would love the help. We will have a pie assembling party here at Chop Point, so pull out Gramma’s famous crust recipe and grab your rolling pin!

Food can either be given to the student’s homeroom teacher or dropped off in the box next to the photocopier. Contact Jess or Bethany if you would like to help assemble the pies.

Veteran’s Day Appreciation

On Thursday, November 10th, we would like to invite Veterans to join us for lunch and a special program presented by students of Chop Point School. Do you have a Veteran family member or friend we can invite? If so, please supply those names and addresses to the school office by October 21st.

We are also setting up a “Table of Honor” for our loved ones that are actively serving in the armed services. You may send in a frames photo on or before November 10th or, if you are able to join us, you may bring the photo then. Please complete tape a note with the following information to the lower corner of the photo frame: name and rank, where stationed, and the name of loved ones.

This will be a special day and we look forward to celebrating it with you and others.

2011 Christmas Wreath Fundraiser

We are excited to share that we are organizing a new fundraiser which we believe will not only be a success, but foster a festive spirit among staff, school, and students. Chop Point School is selling fresh, beautifully decorated balsam wreaths for delivery the Monday after Thanksgiving.

We welcome volunteers for “tipping” (gathering of the boughs) assembly and decoration. Music, hot cider, cocoa, and the perfume of fresh balsam are only small details of the fun and festivity of the making involved.

Golf Tournament – Oct. 1

You have the opportunity to help impact the lives of teenagers throughout the world by simply enjoying a day of golf! Chop Point is hosting its first annual golf tournament, Saturday, October 1st, 2011, at the beautiful Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham, Maine. By getting a foursome together, you can make it a little easier for teens to have a life-changing experience at camp or school.

You can enjoy 18 holes at a Scottish-style course, while competing in a $10,000 Hole-in-One contest, along with a Longest Drive and Closest To The Pin competition. Plus, there will be other prizes including free rounds of golf at courses all over southern Maine. After your round, relax during an awards luncheon.

All of this, plus knowing that you will be making a difference in lives of teens, for only $100 per golfer! Or, get a foursome together and pay just $360 per foursome!

Details

Entry fee: $100 per person or $360 per foursome (includes green fees, cart, and catered lunch). Check should be made out to Chop Point.

Format: Tournament will be Best Score Format with 4-person teams. If you do not enter a team list, you will be placed with others.

Procedure: In a Best Score tournament, all members of each team play their own balls on each hole. At the completion of the hole, the lowest score among all team members serves as the team score.

Handicap: Please submit your approximate score for 18-holes (to ensure teams are evenly matched)

Cancellation Policy: – If golf tournament is canceled due to weather or other events, play will receive a full refund. – If player cancels, 48-hour notice is required to receive 50% of entry fee. – If player is a “no-show”, entry fee is non-refundable.

Introducing the Scrips Program!

We have the opportunity to earn money for our school through gift cards/shopping cards. We buy gift cards through the Scrips Program at a reduced price and then sell them to our school families at face value. “Huh?”

Here’s an example: Chop Point can buy a $100 Walmart gift card for $98. When a school family buys the card from Chop Point at face value, the school gets $2. So if I pay for my groceries with a gift card instead of cash, 2% of my money goes to support the school. Many companies give a higher percentage than that! Some additional examples include:
